Mountain Biking 101

MTB101

NOTE: June 13th MTB 101 to be held at LUMS POND Area # 1

One of the things I enjoy most about mountain biking is sharing the sport with beginners;  helping them get past the intimidation of the first few rides on single track and sharing their excitement the first time they make it up a tough hill or clear a log-over.   I’m a relative newb myself, and still can’t believe how much fun this sport is.

That’s what the Delaware Trail Spinners’ Intro To Mountain Biking is all about, and the 2010 events will be here before you know it!   A lot of what we do will stay the same, be there are also a few changes in the works.  We’ve moved the White Clay events from Saturday to Sunday afternoons, and we’ll also be doing two Saturday events at Fair Hill.  We are also working on partnering with local shops and clubs to really get the most out of the day.

Our first event will be Saturday, April 10th 1-3pm at Fair Hill’s Gallaher Rd lot.  Bike Line of Newark will be our sponsor.

Right after that we’ve got Sunday, April 18th at the Nine Foot Road lot in White Clay Creek State Park, sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports.

If you know of anybody new to riding, please encourage them to come out to one or more of these events.

All events are 1-3pm.  Fair Hill events are at the Gallaher Rd Lot, White Clay at Nine Foot Road.

This is a fair-weather event and may be cancelled due to poor trail conditions.  Please preregister for this event so we can provide cancellation notification and ensure enough ride leaders.  Remember these are State Park parking areas which requires a State Park Pass or cash for the day parking fee.  Contact Karl Lehman via email at karllehman@verizon.net to register.  We post current information on rides and trail work through our yahoo group email list.  Click here to join the yahoo group.
