Building a new bridge in Middle Run
In October 2026, Trail Spinners built a new bridge over an old undermined concrete culvert that Newcastle Country Parks determined needed to be removed. Erosion had threatened to completely collapse the trail. We knew that when the county demolished the concrete culvert it would close the Lenape Trail until the new bridge could be built. To minimize this closure time, we pre-built and pre-cut as much of the bridge as possible. With the help of a great volunteer turnout, this allowed the final bridge assembly to be completed in under 3 hours, including using power equipment to build up the ramps on both sides of the bridge.
